SmartScanit MTD is Making Tax Digital for Income Tax software. It lets you connect to HMRC using your own Government Gateway account and submit your own quarterly updates, view your tax calculation and make your final declaration. It is submission software — it does not provide tax, accountancy or legal advice.
We aim to keep the service accurate, secure and available, and to submit your figures to HMRC exactly as you have entered and approved them. We cannot guarantee uninterrupted access — the service relies on HMRC's APIs and third-party hosting (Netlify), and may be unavailable during maintenance or outages. To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, or for penalties, interest or loss arising from figures you entered incorrectly or submitted late. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited.
How we handle your personal data, what we send to HMRC, and where it is processed is set out in our Privacy & what we send to HMRC page. By using the service you agree to that processing.
The service is currently provided free of charge during testing. If paid subscription plans are introduced, the price and billing terms will be shown clearly before you are asked to pay, and these terms will be updated.
We may update these terms or the service; material changes will be notified via the portal or by email. You can stop using the service at any time and disconnect it from your HMRC account through your Government Gateway "manage authorised software" settings. These terms are governed by the law of England & Wales.
